Description

Anthony Trollope (1815 - 1882) was an English novelist of the Victorian era. Among his best-known works is a series of novels collectively known as the Chronicles of Barsetshire, which revolves around the imaginary county of Barsetshire. "Kept in the Dark" is one of author's final works, a subtle study of a jealousy and indignation. Before her marriage to Western, Cecilia Holt was engaged to the spiteful, conceited Sir Francis Geraldine. As she is unable to find the right moment to confide this to her husband, Western discovers the fact from Geraldine himself, and in a fit of wounded pride deserts his young wife, refusing to hear the truth from her lips.
