Robert Louis Stevenson (1850—1894) was a Scottish novelist, poet, travel writer, and essayist. He was a celebrity during his lifetime for works like "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Treasure Island". Now he is one of the most translated authors in the world. "The Ebb-Tide" is a short novel co-written by Stevenson and his stepson Lloyd Osbourne. The plot revolves around three men down on their luck in Tahiti. All of them agree to ship out on a vessel whose officers died of smallpox, but on the way, they decide to steal the ship and its cargo. Naturally, this doesn't end well.
